What You’ve Been Waiting For, Part 1

What You’ve Been Waiting For, Part 1

Romans 12:2. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.

3 ways we are called to live differently.

  1. We choose faith over fear

John 14:27 I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

2 Timothy 1:7- For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

2. We choose serving over surviving.

Mark 10:45- For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Philippians 2:3-4 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

Acts 2:44- And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.

vs. 45- They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.

vs. 46- They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity…

Acts 2:46-47. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— 47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.

 3. We choose to shine the light, not hide it

Math 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 6:34- Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Galatians 6:9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

Hebrews 10:25 Some people have given up the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that.

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything,

but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Colossians 3:2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

I will never leave you or forsakes you. Hebrews 13:5

Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
